A moorland evening – 9th October 2008

I went up to the moor late this afternoon expecting it to feel cool but was surprised to find the sun really quite warm. We worked an area of heather that looked, on the face of it, to be potentially productive, but with no success. I am never too keen to work Grace on the moor at this time of year late in the evening as there is a chance that we will put birds up from their roost, disturbing them for the night. With warm weather and a clear sky however the sun wouldn’t be setting for quite a few hours after we got back, so this wouldn’t be a problem.

Grace ran really well, covered her ground methodically and in a very fluid manner. There was little opportunity to practice anything other than quartering but an enjoyable hour none the less.
